A man was driving way over the speed limit. A cop comes up behind him and flashes the lights to pull over. The man pulls over and the cop comes up.

"License and registration please."

"I don't have a license, officer."

"Why not?"

"Well this isn't my car"

"Who's car is it??"

"I killed him, he's in the trunk."

So the cop gets a little nervous and calls for back up. He asks the man to remain in the car. When backup arrives, goes to the  officer in the other car and explains the situation. So the second officer goes up to the man, who immediately hands the officer his license.

"Is there a problem here officer?"

The officer, a little confused, asks who's car it is.

"Mine, officer."

"Ok, ok... Will you open your trunk for me sir?"

The man opens the trunk and the officer cautiously walks up with his hand on his gun. Nothing there. Seeing the officer's confusion the man asks him what's wrong.

"Well, you see my colleague over there told me you had no license, had stolen this car, and  had also killed the owner and put him in the trunk."

"What? I bet the lying freak told you I was speeding, too!"

Moral of the Story: If you can generate enough doubt about potential guilt around big things, you can get away with smaller things.
