Guidelines for Guest Posting

You are more than welcome to submit a blog post or creative brief directly to the BK Blog team for review.

Before getting started, please check out our submission and style guidelines. If you have any questions—or if you're ready to submit your post—please contact us using the button below.

Blog Submission Guidelines

Audience
Our blog is for the “organizational revolutionary” who wants to make positive change in their organization, team, business, or in their own personal approach to work.

Identify and list your proposed target audience for your article. Who are they? What are their interests? How do they work? What do they care about? What are their problems? What can you offer them?

Topic
The primary goal of our blog and its articles is to connect people with quality ideas that can help them to change their organization, team, business, or personal work effectiveness.

Please identify one of following categories for your post: leadership, communication, innovation & creativity, personal development, workplace culture, team dynamics, and socially responsible business.

Original content
Your article must be your original work and must not be previously published somewhere else online. If you would like to adapt an excerpt from your book that has not been published elsewhere, that is ok.

Title
Your submission must include a proposed title that is both descriptive of the article and intriguing to potential readers. Make it clickable—but make sure it's relevant to the content.

Wordcount
We ask that you keep your posts around 800 words

Blog Style Guidelines

Tone
Our tone is clear, professional, smart, useful, helpful—but friendly, approachable, honest, and relatable. Berrett-Koehler is like a wise friend, mentor or confidant who you know has your best interests at heart. You can trust BK to tell you like it is without discouraging you.

Quality
A quality article should have value in and of itself.  Your submission must offer information of value to the reader—it should not be a book report or a sales pitch.

A good measure is to ask yourself: would you would share the content with a friend or associate that is struggling with an issue the content addresses? If the answer is yes, then you're gold!

Organization
Please use appropriate headers and bullets/lists to organize key information.
