Bill Treasurer is founder and Chief Encouragement Officer at Giant Leap Consulting (GLC), a courage-building company that exists to help people and organizations live more courageously.

Bill is considered the originator of the new organizational development practice of “courage-building”. Bill is the author of the internationally bestselling book, Courage Goes to Work (Berrett-Koehler, 2008). The book provides practical strategies for inspiring more courageous behavior in workplace settings.

Bill is also the author of Courageous Leadership: Using Courage to Transform the Workplace (Wiley Publishing, 2011). As a comprehensive off-the-shelf training program, the material is designed to help organizational development practitioners and training professionals inspire more courageous behavior in their organizations. Bill’s newest book, Leaders Open Doors (ATD Press, 2014), focuses on the responsibility that leaders have for providing people with opportunities that cause them to grow and develop. Bestselling author Beverly Kaye calls is a “wonderful treat” and author Chip Bell calls it “amazing” and “profound”. Notably, Treasurer is donating 100% of the royalties to programs that support children with special needs. Learn more at:

Bill’s insights have been featured in over 100 newspapers, including The Washington Post, The NY Daily News, The Chicago Tribune, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Boston Herald, and Investor’s Business Daily.  Bill’s insights have also appeared in such magazines as Leader to Leader, Leadership Excellence, Business-to-Business, Parents Magazine, Redbook, Women’s Day, Fitness, and The Harvard Management Update.

Prior to founding Giant Leap Consulting, Bill was an executive in the change management and human performance practice at Accenture, a $29 billion dollar management consulting firm. Bill became Accenture’s first fulltime internal executive coach, where he coached Accenture senior executives to become more courageous leaders.

Bill’s first book, Right Risk (Berrett-Koehler, 2003) is about how to take smart risks. It draws on Bill’s experiences as both an organizational development professional and as a daredevil athlete.  Bill is a former member of the U.S. High Diving Team.  For seven years he traveled throughout the world performing with a team of high performing athletes. During that time, Bill did over 1500 high dives from heights that scaled to over 100 feet...sometimes on fire.

Bill holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin and attended West Virginia University on a full scholarship. He is currently the past chairman of Leadership Asheville, a community-based leadership program, served on the board of his local YMCA, and supports charities that advocate for people with disabilities. Most importantly, he is the father of three beautiful children, Alex, Bina, and Ian.

“Of all the folks who’ve keynoted our conferences, Bill was the best at both inspiring and educating our audience…His delivery was flawless. He involved the audience in quizzes and clever ways to engage the delegates in the material. He created a sense of intimacy with us by sharing personal examples that touched our hearts and made us laugh out loud… It’s no wonder that there was a spontaneous standing ovation at the end. I highly recommend Bill to anyone who is seeking an upbeat, knowledgeable, and customer-centric speaker who entertains, educates, and motivates audiences to take action. And not only that, he’s a genuinely nice guy and so easy to work with.”
